Living and Working in the City of Canterbury

There is so much to do and see for residents and visitors in the City of Canterbury. Whether you're interested in taking advantage of our extensive range of sport and recreation facilities - including an ice rink, or just want to enjoy some time out in one of our parks, vibrant town centres, historical sites, or fabulous restaurants - there's something for everyone, even the famous Canterbury Park Racecourse!

Located in the magnificent city of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, only 17 kilometres south-west of the CBD, the City of Canterbury is a treasure chest full of exotic foods, unique shops and diverse cultures. Our Campsie Food Festival and Haldon Street Festival in Lakemba, highlight the richness within our area and promote Respect, Unity and Peace.

We are proud of our waterways, and have a built a cycleway along the Cooks River for people to discover the natural beauty of our City. The Cooks River passes through our city to the north, with Wolli Creek and Salt Pan Creek forming natural boundaries to the south and west.

In addition to having a large range of recreation and leisure facilities, we cater for the diverse range of people and cultures which make up our community, which dedicated services for the aged, children and youth. We also offer a wide range of multicultural services and facilities for our culturally diverse community. The facilities we provide include:
