The principal reference for the Moorefields component of this project was the publication Moorefields Cemetery Records Moorefields Road, Lakemba compiled by Joyce Ormsby. Canterbury and District Historical Society, 1983. The area where the cemetery is located was previously known as Belmore then Lakemba and today is known as Kingsgrove.

The records Joyce Ormsby consulted to compile Moorefields Cemetery Records were:

• Transcriptions of Wesleyan Churchyard by Errol J. Lea-Scarlett, 1954.
• Moorefields Methodist Church & Cemetery Trust Record Book.
• Moorefields Wesleyan Cemetery Trust Record Book.
• Moorefields Methodist Church & Cemetery Trust Secretary’s Book.
• Canterbury Municipal Council (over past 4 years 1978-1981) in conjunction with a complete listing of headstones taken in April, 1981 by Mrs J. Ormsby of Campsie.

The publication of the first edition of the book (1981) Moorefields Cemetery Records compiled by Joyce Ormsby brought an overwhelming response. Among the letters received was this one from Mr William Cant containing additional historical information about Moorefields Church and Cemetery.
