The waterfall and creek were popular swimming spots for local children. The children swam in the 'lagoon' and climbed under the fall of water over the sandstone rocks.

Work on cementing the bed and banks of Cup and Saucer Creek began in 1928 when the government agreed to undertake concreting the upper reaches of the river as part of "depression relief" work.

The site is at the bottom of Woolcott Street a few hundred metres from where the creek flows in Cooks River. Denniss's Tannery operated near where Cup an Saucer Creek flows into Cooks River.
